The McGuire Bend Church
The little church at McGuire Bend
Is full of all the love, our Lord can send.
The people there are sweet and kind
The type the Lord wants you to find.
This little church of brick and board,
Is a vessel of praise unto the Lord.
These humble walls can tell the story.
Of God's gracious love and mighty glory.
Down and on through many years,
The gospel's been preached to sinner's ears.
It's the word of God and when they hear it,
They're filled up with the Holy Spirit.
This little church so full of love,
Is a gracious gift from God Above.
He enters in and fills the place,
With loving kindness, and with grace.
In our hearts it is the best.
This little Church that God has blessed.
We give with gratitude and thanks to God
For this little church on this patch of sod.
This small band of Sisters and brothers,
Exhault Jesus' name above all others.
With a cup of coffee and a slice of pie,
They teach His Word and hold it high.

Prayer Request 2012

Jaylee MCFarland: 5 year old with luekemia. Has been hospitized for a week. Hoping to get home today Feb 13th. Jaylee, and the entire family is need of prayers.
Alice Spitler: Lost her son Larry Thompson, who has been ill for quite sometime. Also her daughter Barbara Scott is in the Madrid care center alzhimer unit and has suffered a stroke. Alice is very depressed and could use phone call and cards.
Doug Shadle: Treatments for colon cancer are done awaiting tests next week. (Bettys nephew)
Lyle Richey: Home from the hospital and doing well. Pray the hand of God continues to heal.
Steve Kelley: Progressing well after stroke. He is at On With Life 715 Ankeny Rd. Ankeny Ia 50023. This is a rehab center. He will be there indefinantly.Diana said he enjoyed all the cards from McGuire Bend and considers it his family. She also mentioned that cards have slowed down as time progresses and he really looks forward to them.
Jolene Dutcher: Has accepted the Lord as she is incarcerated. Pray that it is sincere.

Jack Cook: Going to Iowa City Feb. 23rd hoping to find treatment without surgery. (Memory Iles brother in law)
Marilyn Yenger: Stratford: has been diagnoised with cancer and is starting treatments.
Unspoken prayers: Lift up unspoken prayers that people might have in their hearts.

Ladies Aid Society 2012

Ladies Aid Society is the heartbeat of the church. Each meeting we plan and organize events and fundraisers. The fundraiser money is used to maintain the church, buy supplies, and help with the general fund. We also have a short lesson and time of fellowship. Ladies Aid Society meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 4:30. The women rotate hostess.
Next meeting is Wednesday February 15th. Ladies Night Out! Meet at Corinas Cafe (Stratford) at 5:00 Women will be treating themselves to supper. April is hostess. Bring a friend!

About Us

McGuire Bend United Brethern Church was founded in 1890, in the aftermath of the 1889 division of the United Brethern in Christ over whether or not to adopt a new constitution. We are part of the "Old Constitution" church. Our present building was built in 1964 after the original building was destroyed in an arson fire.
We are a small, loving congregation, dedicated to making Christs salvation from sin known to all. We are nestled in the timber close to the Des Moines River. We are centered between the towns of Dayton, Lehigh, and Stratford.
We have a children and adult sunday school, monthly ladies meetings, adult bible study,yearly ice cream social, bazaar and vacation bible school. Our doors and hearts are always open to welcome visitors. Sunday school is at 9:30AM and Worship at 10:30AM.

Our Pastors are Dot Hasler dhasler@netins.net cell 515-835-1100 or home 515-838-2386 and Gina Spohnheimer gina@spohnheimer.com 515-836-4468 or 800-463-5022. They serve our church on a rotation with 3 other area churchs. Office hours for Pastor Dot are Tues-Fri 9-12 or call. Pastor Gina is Monday 1-5:00pm.
